One night in the winter of 1979, I was inspired to take a pen and paper to set at my nightstand before going to bed. In my quiet time before God, I began to feel a stirring in my spirit and heard the words, "I'll be right back to hear your prayers before you go to bed..." I quickly wrote it down.
My mind began to picture a story and the words began to flow almost faster than I could write them down. Soon, I was sitting on the edge of my bed and next, on the floor. By the time I finished the poem, I was sitting at the top of my stairway. I could hardly contain myself.
From that moment 'til today, I felt that it someday would be shared with others. The memory of that night is as fresh in my mind as though it were today. It sat tucked away safely in my heart for many years until that still small voice reminded me that there are many children waiting to have this story read to them.
Inspired to Illustrate what I saw on that special night so long ago, I have taken to the pen again and allowed the flow to paint a familiar picture to this generation of readers and listeners.
For the purpose of exhibiting a sample of Illustrating with text, this page shows a sampling of a the early stages of my children's book in progress.
